Upon placing your FPP Brochure Design package order, a package will be mailed out to your address. This package will contain an FPP Brochure Instruction Manual and the FPP CD containing backgrounds and brochure sample images.

Step 1 - Select Your Brochure Design Style

The FPP Brochure Instruction Manual illustrates the 12 different design styles available. These designs are also available to view on the FPP CD in full-color. After looking at all of the brochure design styles, write down which design style you would like your brochure to look like.

(front panel shown)
Brochure Style B6
(front panel shown)

For example, lets say your two favorite brochure designs were B2 and B6 (front panels shown below). After realizing that B6 would not fit inside a regular #10 envelope, you decide to go with brochure style B2. On the first page of the brochure order form, you would write down "B2" as your selected brochure design style.

Step 2 - Select A Background

The FPP Brochure Instruction Manual has a section which describes how to use the FPP CD. On the FPP CD are many different PDF files containing thousands of background images in many different categories. You can peruse through all of the PDF's looking for an image that you feel would make a nice background for your brochure.

For example, on the CD is a folder called FPP Backgrounds. In this folder is a background image category of images called "Abstract Designs". Once you double-click on this PDF file, your computer will automatically open up Adobe Reader to view the images. Adobe Reader is a free program that is used to view PDF files. If you don't already have it on your computer, we've given you a copy of it on your FPP CD! After double-clicking on the "Abstract Designs" file, your computer screen will look like this:

This screen shot shows the background category called Abstract Designs. When choosing your background image for your brochure, you can view over 8000 background images in numerous categories such as this one.

There are 100 images in the "Abstract Designs" file for you to view. If you decide you'd like to look at other images, simply double-click on the PDF file name and it will automatically open up. We have a wide variety of background images to choose from. Click here to see our background images online.

In our brochure design style B2 shown in step 1, you will notice that Bill Johnston has a background of the Atlanta skyline. As opposed to picking from one of our background images, Bill sent us his own image to be used as a background for his products. While we have over 8000 background images available, there may be times when you have a certain image that you would like to use as your background. If that is the case, all you need to do is send us your photograph and we'll use that as opposed to one of ours ... at no extra charge. Bill sent us a postcard that used a nice photograph that he liked. Before we could use it as his background, he needed to get copyright permission from the owner. For more information on copyrights and photographs, click here.

After looking over all of the backgrounds available, decide which one you'd like to use. If Bill Johnston had lived in Montana, he may have chosen background number 603059 (from the Spectacular Landscapes background category) instead of using his Atlanta postcard. To the right is the front panel of his current brochure ... and another sample of what the front panel may have looked like had he chosen a different background.

As you can see, with the numerous different design styles and the thousands of background images, there are almost an unlimited number of possibilities when it comes to the overall look of your brochure.

Step 3 - Choose Your Body Content

This is the heart and soul of your brochure. Every brochure has enough space for four paragraphs of body content. You can either write it yourself or choose from the many different paragraphs that we have written for you. If you feel energetic and would like to write your own text - knock yourself out. Since this is going to be your customized brochure, we highly encourage you to customize it as much as you can by writing your own text. The more you customize this brochure, the more unique it will be to you and your area.

Don't know what to say about yourself? No problem. If you would rather use the content from your supplied body paragraphs - that is fine too. We have 59 different paragraphs from which you are to choose four. Once again, all these elements of the brochure (design styles, pre-written body content, etc.) are supplied in the FPP Brochure Instruction Manual.

If you want to read over our 59 paragraphs in the book and tweak some of them by making an alteration here or there - that's perfect. The main objective is to have these four paragraphs explain to the reader some information about you that tells them you are a professional real estate agent who is capable to assist them with all of their real estate needs.

Listed below is one sample from our 59 pre-written body paragraphs as illustrated in the FPP Brochure Instruction Manual. To the left is how it appears in the book ... and to the right is how it would be written for your brochure. We personalize each paragraph to make it seem like it was written specifically about you. If you were Mary Johnson from Boston and you selected body paragraph #1 from the book, this is how it would be written in your brochure:

You deserve nothing less.

KNOWLEDGE

Mary knows the Boston market, it's intricacies, its subtleties, intimately. She does her homework. No guesswork, no wishful thinking. Mary recommends realistic asking prices. Prices that won't turn buyers away. She invests the time, and the effort. Evenings, weekends, whatever it takes! Mary keeps you informed, in the picture. Regularly, and without fail. You deserve nothing less.

Step 4 - Select Six Bullet Points To Highlight Your Strengths

On the order from in the FPP Brochure Instruction Manual there are a number of general bullet points that you can select from to illustrate your strengths in real estate. We have some pre-written bullet points that you can choose from (such as "• A Multi-Million Dollar Producer") or you can write your own.

Step 5 - Testimonials

There is usually room on your brochure design for a few paragraphs of testimonials. We highly encourage you to get some of these if you don't already have them. It lends major credibility to you as a successful agent. In addition to getting your past clients to write down some nice things to say about you, see if you can get permission from them to use their phone number as well. We highly doubt anyone will actually call upon them to verify the testimonials ... but if they did it would benefit you even more. The presence of a phone number adds instant credibility to the testimonial and the reader will be convinced that it was from a real person as opposed to a false fabrication.

If you are a new agent and don't have any testimonials yet, you can either ask your Broker to say some kind words about you ... or you can elect to use a few more body paragraphs from the pre-written ones in the manual. Therefore, if you don't have testimonials, instead of selecting four paragraphs, you can choose six of them.

Step 6 - Write Your Own Personal Statement

This is a paragraph that you write on your own. It is your chance to fully customize this brochure to convince the reader that you are the agent for them. Your Personal Statement paragraph might look something like this:

"My philosophy about real estate is simple. I will assist my customers in buying or selling a home with individual attention, unqualified assurance and unparalleled professionalism. I strive to have a completely satisfied customer at the end of each transaction."

Step 7 - Send in Your Pictures

The last step is to send in your pictures along with your filled-out order form from the back of the FPP Brochure Instruction Manual. In Step 1 you selected a brochure design that you liked. Our Graphic Designers will create your brochure using that design style. The most important features of your brochure will be your photos!

Each brochure style has it's own photograph placements. For example, in Brochure Style B2, there is a waist-up photograph on the front panel, a head-shot for the middle inside panel, and another photograph for the logo on the back middle panel. Optimally we recommend you take three different pictures to be used for the three photographic placements for Brochure Style B2. With that in mind, take a look at which brochure style you've selected ... and send in the same type of photographs used in that style. Click here to go to our FAQ section regarding sending in your photos in digital format.

Simply mail us your pictures along with your completed order form to finish your part. Once we receive your mail, our graphic designers will process the order and a PDF proof of the brochure will be emailed to you. Once you give final approval, the final brochure and all of the graphics used on it will be mailed back to you on another CD. Any original pictures or CD's that were sent to us for this brochure design will also be returned to you upon final approval of the brochure. Once you receive your final CD your next step would be to have them printed - which we hope you will do with First Place Publishing. For more information on printing with First Place Publishing click here.

That's the tour of the Personal Brochure Design. How long does it take to complete? If you want to quickly make selections and get it started right away, you could realistically make all your selections and fill out the order form in less than 5 minutes. On the other side, if you wanted to take your time and read every single body paragraph and analyze each and every brochure design, you could spend a few hours in making your selections.
